FIDE World Amateur Chess Championships 2025 – Open & Women’s Events in Serbia

FIDE invites all Member Federations and eligible amateur players to compete in the FIDE World Amateur Chess Championships 2025, held in Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia, from November 4 to 14, 2025. This international tournament is open to male and female players with a FIDE rating under 2300.

Vrnjačka Banja is a spa town in central Serbia, famous for its natural mineral springs, wellness resorts, and scenic landscapes. It's one of the most popular tourist destinations in Serbia, often called the “Serbian Riviera” for its vibrant atmosphere, especially in summer.

Who Can Participate

  • Players must be officially registered by their national federations.
  • No limit on the number of players each FIDE Member Federation can send.
  • Championships are divided into Open and Women’s sections for each rating group:

            Under 2300
            Under 2000
            Under 1700
  • Separate Women’s events will be held in each category if at least 10 players from 2 different continents are registered.

Tournament Format:

  • 9-round Swiss system
  • Time control: 90 minutes + 30-second increment per move, starting from move one.

Important Dates:

  • Registration deadline: October 10, 2025
  • Visa invitation request deadline: September 5, 2025 (for participants needing a Serbian visa)
